Announcing EasyBib’s Chrome Toolbar Extension

Really big news: we’ve added a browser extension for Google Chrome! It’s available for free download in the Chrome Web Store right now. You should go check it out.

It’s really simple to use. Just visit the store and download the extension.

Once it’s installed, you can cite anything on any website you’re browsing. Just click on the red EasyBib book in your toolbar and you’ll see a drop down menu.

If you click “Cite on EasyBib” you’ll get a pop up window that has all of the citation information formatted and filled out for you. From there you can browse to EasyBib or hit the “View Bibliography” button to see all of your citations!

How does this work if you subscribe to the school edition? I love the chrome browser extension, but as it doesn’t prompt me for a login, the citation doesn’t get added to my regular Easybib account, and I can’t use APA style (which is a requirement at my school). Is there a way to easily flick the citation created with the chrome extension to my Easybib account?

Hi Deborah, when you are already logged in to EasyBib and you use the toolbar, it will automatically add the citations you create to your current project in your account. In the next iteration of the toolbar this will become more obvious.

Not sure if this comment will get seen, but I just noticed that when you hover over the EasyBib icon it says “Click to see if this source is creditable”… should it be credible?

      Hi Kelly,

Could you give a little more specificity about where you’re seeing this? Or perhaps take a screenshot? Thanks for your sharp eye!

Actually, I just checked on this. You may be using an older version of the toolbar extension. Please update yours to the current version and then notify my if the issue persists. Thank you.
